The investment means Shot Scope will expand its provision of technologies such as GPS wearables, laser rangefinders and shot-tracking devices, allowing more golfers to gain access to in-depth performance analytics.

Founded in Scotland in 2014, Shot Scope provides game-enhancing technologies such as wearable smart golf watches and laser rangefinders, as well as a mobile app and web dashboard to track in-depth performance analytics. The company is well-known and respected in the UK golf market amongst both amateur and professional sector retailers and users, giving golfers a more engaging experience with the game while also helping them improve their skills.

Investment expands Shot Scope’s range

The Series B funding round was led by Guinness Ventures (€3.69m), alongside Virgin Money (€1.75m) and the rest from Scottish Enterprise, Growthdeck, The SideBySide Partnership and Edinburgh-based Equity Gap. “This investment accelerates our mission to deliver game improvement technology to 60 million golfers around the world,” said CEO and founder of Shot Scope, David Hunter.

“Throughout 2024 we plan to invest in infrastructure across the USA to support our retail and distribution partners. Golfers globally love our GPS, rangefinder and shot-tracking technology, having sold products in 160 different countries worldwide in 2023. Golf has experienced a huge change in the past five years, people of all ages can improve quickly and enjoy the game they love even more.”

Lowering Shot Scope’s handicap in global markets

Shot Scope’s products are already available in some of the US’s biggest retailers including Dick’s Sporting Goods and the PGA Tour Superstore, and recent partnerships with PGA of America’s Golf Retirement Plus programTM and TROON Golf Network have also increased Shot Scope’s credibility in the US market, gaining trust and traction with smaller retailers in various states, but a growing team of marketing, sales and customer service experts based in a new headquarters on the outskirts of Edinburgh will support the brand’s plans to scale operations worldwide.

“Shot Scope’s innovative product and software suite is meeting strong market demand, positioning the company for significant expansion both domestically and internationally,” said Adam Barker, from Guinness Ventures. “As lead investor, we are thrilled to further support Shot Scope at this inflection point and to continue being a part of its exciting growth journey.”
