Basler has started series production of its latest version of Ace area scan camera models. The cameras are 29 x 29 x 42mm in size and offer a Gigabit Ethernet interface, Power over Ethernet, and a 5 Megapixel CMOS sensor.
The cameras are available in monochrome and colour and can deliver up to 14fps at full resolution. They consume only 2.5W, which results in low camera temperatures and means that they can even be used in small, enclosed environments. The Ace 5 Megapixel models have already been approved for use in several medical and traffic systems as well as in non-industrial applications outside of the factory. The low list price of €349 makes this camera very attractive to several of the more price-sensitive industries.
The cameras offer all of the popular features required for a digital camera, such as auto-functions for gain and exposure, look-up tables, and chunk data. This feature list is topped with Basler's colour enhancement features that provide realistic, clear colour images for demanding colour applications such as medical imaging.
The cameras are available in resolutions from VGA to 5 Megapixels and with up to 100fps. New models with a Camera Link interface will expand the existing Ace series this year. They feature the latest 2 and 4 Megapixel CMOS sensors from Cmosis Image Sensors, which reach up to 340 and 180fps respectively. These models will enter series production in the second half of 2011.
