2018 saw Sony launch its new FCB EV7520A block camera as a replacement module to the discontinued EV7520 model. Active Silicon has confirmed that its existing field proven Active FCB-EV-HD-SDI and the Harrier 3G-SDI interface boards are fully compatible with this new camera. The combination of Sony’s latest block camera and Active Silicon’s trusted hardware offers superior high-definition video and image capture in a compact solution.
Ideal for robotics, surveillance and traffic applications, the compact 50x60x89.7mm camera offers 30x optical and 12x digital zoom using a 1/2.8-type CMOS image sensor. Key features include the VISCA command protocol, Advanced Noise Reduction, Auto ICR, Spherical Privacy Zone Masking and Wide Dynamic Range.
Active Silicon camera interface boards support new Sony block camera
The Harrier 3G-SDI Camera Interface Board provides a cost-effective solution to take full advantage of the high definition digital video output, supporting all the 3G-SDI and HD-SDI modes of the camera up to 2.97 Gbps. In addition, the interface board can provide simultaneous analog output of Standard Definition (SD) video in 720p50/60 modes in switchable 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratios for distortion-free display. Other features include a built-in test pattern which conforms to the SMPTE RP-219-2002 specification, and HD Visually Lossless Compression (HD-VLC™), allowing much greater cable lengths and the use of slip rings.
Alternatively, users can select the Active FCB-EV-HD-SDI Interface Board which has been widely used in applications during the lifetime of the FCB-EV7520 camera. All camera HD-SDI modes are supported, an RS-232 communications port and reset line are available and a DIP switch located on the rear of the module allows the HD video mode to be conveniently selected without the need to send serial commands to the camera.
