The German specialists for optical measurement technology and image processing Wente/Thiedig present their new image processing system SKG500 at Hannover Messe 2015 in hall 17, stand A38/1. Developed for handling systems in automotive automation processes, the stationary 3D recognition system ensures careful handling of brake discs and friction rings in bin-picking applications. As the SKG500 system is installed independently from the robot, no mechanical damage to cable connections and electronic components can occur. The system is therefore very low-maintenance and nearly wear-free. It can be installed directly above the picking station and features an integrated intelligent area lighting. Recording and processing are carried out simultaneously to component handling. The system is based on image processing expert Vision Components' Smart Camera VCSBC6211RH, a board camera, which features a small form factor, high performance level and extremely low power consumption. Together with system control and robot control, the system enables precise bin picking.
