Hamamatsu Photonics has introduced the C10000-401 TDI CCD camera, featuring high speed, and high sensitivity, back thinned CCD image sensors.
The sensor has 2048 pixel length by 128 pixel height (12 x 12µm pixel size), boasts a peak quantum efficiency in excess of 90 per cent, and high UV sensitivity, with IR sensitivity out to 1200nm. With a 4-tap output, the C10000-401 TDI camera can achieve a high speed data readout with up to 50KHz line rates.
Using the TDI (time delay integration) image acquisition method, the C10000 series of cameras synchronise charge transfer with the moving object, thus giving 128 times the image integration time of a conventional line sensor. When combined with the high sensitivity of the back thinned CCD chip, an output of two or three orders of magnitude greater than any regular line scan camera can be achieved.
The features of this new board camera make it ideal for applications in low light level and high speed industrial inspection, especially where good UV and NIR sensitivity are required. The C10000 series is used for the inspection of high volume products such as flat panel and LCD displays, web inspection, electronics and PCB inspection, plastic and glass inspection, biomedical instrumentation and many other in-line industrial inspection applications.
