Hamamatsu Photonics has introduced the C10800 series of 'dual energy' X-ray line scan cameras, specifically designed for imaging materials and objects requiring improved detection and composition classification.
Dual energy X-ray imaging technology consists of combining two radiographs acquired at two distinct energy levels (high energy and low energy), thus allowing density as well as other material characteristics to be determined.
By using a variety of combinations of scintillator, filters and gain factor, it is possible to optimise these cameras for different object and X-ray conditions in order to cover a wide range of applications, such as food and industrial inspection requiring high contrast imaging, composite material sorting, rare metal and mineral detection, security and cargo screening, drug detection, waste sorting, and recycling.
Hamamatsu also produce a wide range of image sensors ideal for use in line scan applications, such as the S11108 with APS technology, and the S11105 with 50MHz data rate.
