Spectra-Physics, a division of Newport Corporation, has been granted a US patent for its DeepSee technology for multiphoton imaging. Used in both the Mai Tai DeepSee and the InSight DeepSee products, the technology enables automated, deep 3D imaging of live tissue in neuroscience, cell biology, and other advanced biological applications. The patent expands the company's portfolio of fundamental patents covering ultrafast laser technologies.
The DeepSee technology is widely used in multiphoton imaging for automated pre-compensation of ultrafast laser pulses for optical dispersion in microscopes, thereby delivering the short pulses and high peak power to the sample. This results in enhanced image quality and deeper imaging penetration into tissue in vivo.
