Photron, a global leader and manufacturer of high-speed cameras and image analysis software, announces the second and lower-priced high-speed camera in the FASTCAM Mini WX series, the Mini WX50. The new video camera provides up to 750 frames per second at full four mega-pixel resolution and true 1080 HD performance to 1,500 frames per second (fps), making it cost-effective for targeted high-speed imaging applications such as biomechanics, life sciences, automotive safety testing, military/defense/aerospace research, fluidics, and materials sciences. Well-suited for operation in high-G environments, the FASTCAM Mini WX series cameras are high-G tested to 100 G, 10 ms, 6 axis.
The compact, 120 mm H x 120 mm W x 99 mm D (4.7 in. x 4.7 in. x 3.9 in.), lightweight Mini WX 50 (1.6 kg or 3.5 lbs.) delivers excellent light sensitivity, 12-bit ADC with outstanding color fidelity and image quality. It also offers memory options from 4 GB to 8 GB, up to 16 GB with high performance Gigabit Ethernet interface to PC capability. Light sensitivity, as with all of Photron’s high speed imaging systems, is measured to the true (no “T” values) ISO Ssat 12232 standard. The FASTCAM Mini WX 50 and the previously introduced Mini WX 100 are ISO 6,400 monochrome, and 1SO 2,000 color.
Photron’s new, compact Mini WX high-speed camera family features standard F-mount and C-mount lens mounts for easy integration into new and/or existing systems.
