Photron has introduced an ultra-high-speed imaging system, the Fastcam SA-Z, which features frame rates of up to 21,000 fps at megapixel resolution. The SA-Z CMOS sensor provides over 2,000,000 fps at reduced resolution. The global electronic shutter operates between 1ms down to 159ns allowing the system to freeze fast motion without blur.
Applying the ISO 12232 Ssat standard, the light sensitivity measurements are ISO 25,000 for monochrome and 10,000 for colour. Photron’s ultra-high speed imaging system offers 12-bit pixel depth (analogue-to-digital converters).
With four onboard memory options, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB, the Fastcam SA-Z camera system is suited to imaging in ballistics, plasma and arc studies, materials science, fluidics, velocimetry, shock waves and detonics application.
