Point Grey has added a model to its line of Flea3 USB 3.0 cameras. This newest Flea3 model uses the fast and sensitive EV76C560 global shutter CMOS image sensor from e2v to deliver high quality 1.3 Megapixel images at 60fps.
The FL3-U3-13E4C/M-C provides a global shutter mode for distortion-free motion capture and an electronic rolling shutter mode for low read noise and improved dynamic range. It is ideal for applications that require fast frame rates and high image quality, such as 3D scanning, characterisation of parts, and eye or gesture tracking. The camera's CMOS image sensor makes the camera well-suited for outdoor imaging applications, such as intelligent traffic systems, where smear must be minimised.
Point Grey's Flea3 camera line measures just 29 x 29 x 30mm and provides a set of features dedicated to maximising USB 3.0 reliability, including a 32 megabyte frame buffer; on-camera power, temperature and status monitoring; and in-field updatable firmware. The camera also provides a full image processing pipeline, including colour interpolation, look-up table, gamma correction, pixel binning functionality, and more.
