MVTec Software, based in Munich, Germany, has launched version 9.0 of its machine vision software Halcon. Halcon 9.0 provides further developments to handle demanding 3D vision challenges. Other interesting features include an enhanced usability as well as the ability to handle large images of beyond 32k x 32k pixels.
Version 9.0 offers valuable speedups, especially regarding Halcon's automatic operator parallelisation allowing multi-core computers to be used effectively. The software's matching methods provide correction for objects distorted by perspective. Halcon 9.0 is supplied with a data code reader that is able to read damaged codes, even if the whole finder pattern is missing. ECC200, QR, and PDF417 codes of each size can be read with elements at a minimum of 2 x 2 pixels.
