Industrial camera manufacturer IDS is running Industrial Vision Days in the UK at the National Space Centre, Leicester on 14th May 2019 and HMS Belfast, London 16th May 2019. These provide an excellent opportunity to obtain a thorough understanding of AI-based and 3D image processing and see the latest IDS product developments in action. Registration for these free events is now open at: https://en.ids-imaging.com/ids-industrial-vision-days-registration.html
The events will feature a number of informative presentations on artificial intelligence, deep learning and robot vision, hands-on product demonstrations and the chance to have informal discussions with machine vision experts from IDS. They will provide the perfect opportunity to learn how these new technologies can offer benefits for many machine vision applications.
Artificial intelligence opens up new fields of application for camera technology and image processing and the next generation of industry builds on interconnected intelligent devices. Presentations at the Industrial Vision Days will introduce the characteristics and benefits of artificial intelligence and provide a basic understanding of neural networks. The capabilities of the IDS NXT line of vision app- based cameras will be explored. These provide an industrial-grade platform capable of performing pioneering image processing on the edge.
A specially developed AI vision app transforms them into universal, high- performance inference cameras with an integrated FPGA-based ANN accelerator capable of inference times of a few milliseconds. Equipped with this AI-based embedded system, users can load pre-trained ANNs (artificial neural networks) of different architectures onto the cameras and then use them for tasks such as object recognition or classification.
There will also be the opportunity to learn about the potential of robot vision using 3D stereo imaging. The latest developments in the Ensenso 3D camera systems, especially the Ensenso XR, make them even more flexible and powerful. A number of interesting application cases will also be covered. The Ensenso XR is the first variant to feature on-board processing to calculate 3D point clouds itself and transfer them via Gigabit Ethernet or WiFi to a host PC for further analysis. The key benefits are faster data processing and lower utilization of network and computer resources. Ensenso XR is therefore ideally suited for multi-camera systems where the load on bandwidth and connected PCs are critical factors for the success of the applications.
