Hamamatsu Photonics has released the ImagEM 1K C9100-14 EMCCD camera, which offers high resolution, high sensitivity and high speed imaging for advanced applications. For those situations where ordinary CCDs or scientific CMOS cameras are unsuitable, the ImagEM 1K provides the solution thanks to a back-thinned EMCCD with peak quantum efficiency in excess of 90 per cent.
The camera can be operated as either an EMCCD or as a standard CCD camera. In both modes there are multiple settings available that have been optimised for different applications/readout speeds, meaning that the ImagEM 1K can do the job of several traditional cameras. This versatility represents excellent value for research lab budgets and is also the reason for its widespread popularity in fluorescence microscopy, semiconductor and solar cell inspection and pharmaceutical drug discovery.
The ImagEM 1K provides accurate, repeatable 16-bit data acquisition up to 242fps. With 1 million pixels at 13µm, it is possible to capture signals with high dynamic range; EM gain of up to 1,200 ensures that even the weakest signals will be visible.
