Truesense Imaging has expanded its portfolio of high performance CCD image sensors with the launch of new 1080p and 4 Megapixel devices. The new products are targeted at applied imaging markets such as machine vision, traffic, inspection and surveillance applications.
The KAI-02170 image sensor is a 1-inch optical format device in 1080p (1,920 x 1,080) resolution supporting frame rates up to 60fps, while the KAI-04070 provides 4 Megapixel (2,048 x 2,048) resolution in a 4/3 optical format at up to 28fps. The new products join the existing KAI-16070 image sensor as members of the Truesense 7.4µm interline transfer CCD family, providing superior image quality for demanding imaging applications. When compared to a 5.5µm pixel, signal-to-noise and low light performance in this platform have been enhanced through an 80 per cent increase in light gathering capability of the pixel, and smear rejection has been improved four-fold to -115dB. Dynamic range has been doubled to 70dB, and can be extended even further to 82dB in binned pixel operation.
The devices are available in monochrome, Bayer colour, and Truesense Sparse Colour Filter Pattern configurations, providing a full range of colour and sensitivity options. They are also pin and package compatible with Truesense Imaging’s 5.5µm pixel family of products, allowing camera manufacturers to make use of existing camera designs to support the new devices.
