Tamron Co., Ltd. expand their range of fixed focal lenses for the machine vision market with two new series featuring three models respectively. The MA23 series focuses on typical industrial inspection requirements with its small size and image quality optimized for short distances. It is designed for 2/3” imagers with up to 8 Megapixels. The MA111-VIR series is optimized for larger sensor sizes and resolutions, with 1.1” sensor format and up to 24 Megapixel, addressing a large field of industrial and non-industrial high-resolution applications.
MA23 Series: Small form factor and high image quality for industrial inspection
The MA23 Series provides the latest lens technology for industrial machine vision applications, ensuring a high image quality and contrast to capture every detail. With up to 8 Megapixel resolution in a 2/3” format, these lenses support the trend for higher resolutions in industrial inspection systems. All three models have an outer diameter of 29mm and a C-Mount, which perfectly combines with the typical 29x29mm footprint of compact machine vision cameras for a minimal size in systems with limited space.
The image quality is optimized for short, close-up distances typically found in industrial vision systems. Tamron has further improved the lens design to achieve one of the lowest distortions of the industry. The resistance to shocks and vibrations has also been improved with a new mechanism that limits image deflection to less than 10µm even when the lens is exposed to up to 10G impacts. Standard locking screws are provided to fix lens settings in an industrial environment.
The MA23 Series initially consists in three models with 8mm, 25mm and 35mm focal length: the MA23F08V, MA23F25V and MA23F35V. All share the rugged industrial design, optimized image quality and compact size.
MA111-VIR Series: High-performance lenses for high-resolution imaging in the visible and near-infrared spectrum
The MA111-VIR Series is Tamron’s answer to the latest generation of high-resolution CMOS sensors. High-resolution imaging is becoming more and more popular especially in the electronics industry where component miniaturization requires more precise inspection systems. But other non-industrial machine vision applications also require higher resolutions, for example aerial imaging, surveillance, or traffic monitoring. The MA111-VIR Series supports larger sensors (1.1”) with up to 24 Megapixel resolution and a 2.5µm pixel pitch. All three models have an outer diameter of 43mm and a C-Mount, which keeps them extremely compact in this resolution range.
The MA111-VIR Series comes with the same performance improvements as the MA23 in terms of image quality, low distortion and anti-shock and anti-vibration mechanism with screw-lock. This makes the three models truly rugged, high-performance industrial lenses. However, because of their larger scope of application including outdoor imaging, the MA111-VIR Series have been designed to provide a high contrast and resolution across the whole focal length range, from close-up to infinity.
Another major benefit of the MA111-VIR Series is the excellent performance in the near-infrared spectrum (NIR). Tamron was able to reduce the typical focus shift associated with the spectrum between 400nm and 850nm to an absolute minimum, delivering outstanding image quality beyond the visible range. This makes these lenses the optics of choice for any NIR application such as traffic monitoring.
The MA111-VIR Series initially features three models with 16mm, 25mm and 50mm focal length: the MA11116VIR, MA11125VIR and MA11150VIR.
With six new models in two series, Tamron demonstrate with this launch their commitment to providing best-in-class optics for the machine vision market, including both conventional factory automation and non-industrial applications.
