The Matrox GatorEye GigE Vision industrial camera from Matrox Imaging now offers 3D capabilities.
For triangulation-based 3D digitising applications, the Matrox GatorEye extracts the laser line in an image to sub-pixel accuracy and produces the corresponding positional depth/height array. Only the resulting array is transmitted, which lightens the load on the Gigabit Ethernet link and PC. The PC can then focus on other tasks, including 3D measurement and analysis.
Designed for demanding manufacturing environments, the Matrox GatorEye industrial camera has an IP67 rating and offers a sturdy, dust-proof, and washable casing. The camera is available in monochrome and colour versions of the following configurations: 640 x 480 at 110fps 1/3-inch CCD; 1,280 x 960 at 22.5fps 1/3-inch CCD; and 1,600 x 1,200 at 15fps 1/1.8-inch CCD.
The camera includes an opto-coupled trigger input, strobe output, eight GPIOs, and a controlled current source for driving LED illuminators directly. It can be powered either by 12-24V DC, which is common in industrial environments, or by Power-over-Ethernet (PoE), where both power and Ethernet streams share a single cable.
