Active Silicon is providing frame grabbers with the new Power over Camera Link (PoCL) interface. It has directly worked on the development of PoCL as a member of the Camera Link committee to provide a viable solution to the problem of adding power to the current Camera Link interface while still maintaining backwards compatibility with the current standard.
The Phoenix D48CL-PE1 and D24CL-PE1 are the first of these to benefit from the addition of PoCL. These include the optional SafePower protocol that enables the frame grabber to detect when a PoCL camera has been connected, meaning that power will only be applied when it is safe to do so.
The Phoenix frame grabbers offer an exceptionally high transfer rate, with an elegantly optimised architecture that is future-proof and scalable. The new PCI Express format will deliver those attributes to further applications alongside the existing industry standard formats that include PCI, PMC, CompactPCI and PC/104-Plus.
