Allied Vision Technologies has launched the Pike F-505, which is a high-resolution 5 Megapixel addition to the Pike series that offers sharp image quality, fast FireWire B data transfer and smart image-processing functions.
The Pike F-505 is equipped with the Sony ExView HAD CCD sensor in a compact 2/3-inch format. The new model comes in black and white (Pike F-505B) and colour versions (Pike F-505C). This high-resolution AVT camera can produce clear, sharp images for precision scientific and industrial inspection.
The Pike F-505 is equipped with a fast FireWire IEEE 1394b (S800) interface giving this model a frame rate of up to 15fps in full resolution. And with True Partial Scan, it can provide higher frame rates at smaller AOI. The standard version has two copper connectors that allow several cameras to be linked together in a daisy chain. There is an optional fibre optic version with one copper connector and one fibre optic connector that can operate at distances of up to 500 metres (1,500 feet) between the camera and the PC. The AVT image-processing functions built into every Pike camera for optimised image quality and data-transfer-speed also help minimise the processing load on the computer system.
The anti-smear function and 8X binning provide crisp, clear pictures in extremely high or low light conditions. In terms of speed, the packed 12-bit mode makes smart use of the bandwidth available on the FireWire Bus and can increase the frame rate by up to 33 per cent. Other smart features, such as sequence mode and quick format-change mode, allow the user to make faster, more flexible parameter changes from one image to the next.
