Sweep+ 10 GigE prism line scan camera

JAI has added a second 10 GigE prism line scan camera to its Sweep+ Series. The Sweep+ SW-4000Q-10GE is equipped with four prism-mounted CMOS sensors and a 10 GigE interface that also supports backwards compatibility to 5 Gbps, 2.5 Gbps, and 1 Gbps Ethernet standards. The 4-CMOS prism design simultaneously captures red, green, blue, and near infrared spectral wavebands for both high color accuracy and multi-spectral analysis via the NIR channel.

The SW-4000Q-10GE camera offers a maximum resolution of 4096 pixels (4K) per channel/line, and in combination with the 10GBASE-T interface, the camera provides RGB + NIR output at up to 72 kHz (72,000 lines per second) over dual 10 GigE streams. The dual stream configuration supports 8-bit or 10-bit output per channel.

The camera also offers a single-stream option using the RGBa8 format where the NIR data is provided via the alpha channel. In this configuration, the camera can operate at up to 73 kHz with 8-bit-per-channel output. A third output option, capable of up to 74 kHz at full 4K resolution, includes 8-bit YUV color data on one stream combined with 8-bit or 10-bit NIR data on a second stream.

Via integrated auto-negotiation technology the camera offers automatic backwards compatibility to NBASE-T (5 Gbps and 2.5 Gbps) and the traditional 1000BASE-T (1 Gbps output) for customers running vision applications on these lower-speed Ethernet standards. This makes the SW-4000Q-10GE suitable for the slowest to the fastest running color line scan setups including applications in food sorting, plastic sorting, bottle/bottle cap inspection and high speed print/label inspection.

Like the recently introduced SW-4000T-10GE 3-CMOS camera, the SW-4000Q-10GE offers two user-selectable pixel sizes – a 7.5 x 7.5 µm mode (Mode A) with fast responsivity for applications that need it, and a 7.5 x 10.5 µm mode (Mode B) when rectangular pixels and better dark SNR are preferred. In addition, each mode has two adjacent lines. This arrangement makes it possible for the SW-4000Q-10GE to provide horizontal pixel binning, vertical pixel binning, or both.

The SW-4000Q-10GE includes a built-in color conversion capability that allows the color output to be provided in HSI or CIEXYZ color format if needed, as well as offering conversions from standard RGB to the sRGB or Adobe RGB color spaces, or even to a user-defined custom RGB conversion matrix.

The camera supports the precision time protocol (IEEE 1588) for multi-camera networked configurations, and can be connected directly to rotary encoders for synchronization with conveyor belts and other motion systems.

Additional standard features include gain and black level adjustment, manual or automatic white balancing, shading correction, PRNU and DSNU correction, region-of-interest settings, and chromatic aberration compensation.

The SW-4000Q-10GE can be ordered with two different lens mount options – a Nikon F-mount or an M52 mount.

JAI is strengthening its sales and consulting support in Europe by hiring Jochen M. Braun as new Senior Director of Sales with responsibility for the EMEA region.  Based in Germany, Jochen Braun is well known in the industry and through similar job positions with other large machine vision companies he has gained a lot of experience and deep knowledge of vision technologies with special focus on machine vision camera technology.  He says: “We will focus our attention on decided target markets and industries, new customers as well as strengthening JAI´s established partnerships” in the European region.

JAI has also hired Michael Ross as new Sales Manager also based in Germany. Michael Ross will be responsible for customer consultancy and sales primarily in the Northern part of Germany, but will also serve selected markets outside Germany in the European region.  Michael Ross has collected a lot of sales experience and worked in different sales roles for many years in the machine vision industry.
