Vitronic has launched Vicode Basic, a new camera system providing solutions for basic reading tasks. The camera reads variable data reliably, regardless of whether the information is printed on labels, sealed caps or cardboard boxes, and identifies text and codes with up to 99.9 per cent accuracy at high production flow rates. The feature-based OCR allows up to 100 alphanumeric characters to be read per second, even with mid-quality print.
Vicode Basic consists of a digital camera installed in a sensor housing with circular illumination and a PC-based control unit. The recognition software is easy to use and new reading processes can be applied quickly and simply. Integrating the camera into existing facilities requires neither extensive training nor complex reorganisation.
Upgrades and additional components are available, such as grey-scale readings, and an engineering team handling support issues is available following installation.
