The XR-4 scientific and medical X-Ray camera from Dalsa is intended for use in the biomedical, specimen, mammography and computed tomography (CT scanning) fields. The XR-4 delivers excellent image quality, offers a large field of view and high frame rates of 10fps for CT applications. Automatic exposure control in the XR-4 minimises the exposure to the patient, and delivers increased resolution and sensitivity.
In applications such as mammography, digital radiography is a vital tool in early cancer cell detection and if a biopsy becomes necessary, digital radiography can help doctors to position biopsy needles properly through a process called stereotactic imaging. The camera can assist with specimen radiography to test tissue specimens.
The camera can be incorporated into medical imaging equipment for clinical use and significantly increases the speed and accuracy of stereotactic biopsy needle positioning, spot imaging, CT, and specimen radiography. This in turn decreases patient risk, procedure accuracy, significantly reduces patient discomfort, and speeds the process.
The camera has a standard Gigabit Ethernet output interface with no requirement for a frame grabber making it easily integrated into radiography systems. The XR-4 comes in three different models with 7.5 x 7.5cm, 7.5 x 15cm and 15 x 15cm fields of view.
