Webcast supported by
As the hype around artificial intelligence continues to grow, vendors and end-users of imaging technologies need to consider the current innovation boundaries that are yet to be pushed, now and in the future.
While there are an array of use cases out there for AI and 3D imaging solutions - across multiple sectors - data input and management challenges remain, which need to be overcome if the true potential of capabilities involved is to be realised. But, how can this be achieved?
From the current state of play across AI-implemented imaging platforms and plans for further development, to challenges faced by end-users, this panel discussion will discuss these talking points, and more.
Key topics will include:
Current challenges: Examine the drawbacks that end-users are experiencing when it comes to achieving optimal accuracy and insight utilisation, and how developers can aid users in overcoming them.
Technology limitations: Consider the boundaries currently at play around development of AI-integrated imaging technologies, that vendors need to work with and look to push in the future.
Skill development: Explore the current skills that are required across the workforce, in order to get the best out of AI and imaging tech capabilities. As demands evolve, skill sets will need to develop with them.
Future trends: As AI development continues to evolve, how is such evolution set to bolster imaging applications over the coming years?

Panellists include:
Jan Naessens, Vision Sales Account Manager, Zebra
Jan started his career in the early 1990s as a service engineer at Siemens, where he installed and serviced machine-vision systems for the inspection of automotive connectors. He moved to sales in early 2000 and had several roles as Sales-, Account- and Channel Manager at Qsort, Cognex, Cadcamatic and RightHand Robotics, focused on machine vision, fixed scanning and robotics, and brought these technologies to many segments of the industrial and logistics market. He joined Zebra in March of this year as the machine vision and fixed industrial scanning sales specialist for Benelux and the Nordics.
Matthias Kerschhaggl, CTIO and owner of EVK
Matthias Kerschhaggl is CTIO and owner of EVK, an Austrian based expert company for industrial imaging. He is engaged in data science and analytics, predominantly dealing with data streams stemming from sensor based sorting and control applications used in industries such as food, chemical, mining and pharmaceuticals. He holds a PHD in experimental physics and has more than 15 years of experience in the fields of statistical learning and data mining of datasets from various areas (astroparticle physics, integral field spectrographs, hyperspectral and inductive imaging).
Bruno Menard, Director of Software and Program Manager, Teledyne DALSA
Holding over 25 years’ worth of experience in developing computer vision technologies, Bruno has spent his entire career at Teledyne DALSA. Beginning as an image processing algorithm developer in 1995, he soon took on leadership of the image processing group, before becoming Software Program Manager for the Smart Products Division in 2015. Having served as Director of Software since September 2019, Bruno has long overseen the evolution of image processing and machine vision processes.
Dr. David Johnson CEng FIET, Chief Engineer, Lockheed Martin UK, Ampthill
Dr. David Johnson is the Chief Engineer at Lockheed Martin UK’s Advanced Manufacturing facility in Bedfordshire, where he has been pivotal in advancing the British Army’s Land Environment Air Picture Provision, and its SkyKeeper Command and Control capabilities. With 12 years at Lockheed Martin, Dave is recognised for his leadership in advancing technology, engineering innovation, and building technical excellence, particularly in the development of integrated systems. He holds a PhD in Electronic Engineering and a Master’s degree in Electronic and Microelectronic Systems Engineering, from the University of Hull. Dave is also a Fellow of The Institute of Engineering and Technology.
