Flir Systems has introduced the Flir i50 entry level infrared camera. The camera fits into the range above the lowest priced and pocket sized Flir i5 and its higher performance counterpart, the InfraCAM SD. Designed for those needing higher resolution and for whom documentation of findings is important, it is characterised by its ease-of-use, portability and excellent feature to price ratio.
The Flir i50 offers a choice of display measurement modes, 140 x 140 resolution with 25 x 25 field of view, and 100mK NETD. Accuracy is ±2 per cent and thermal sensitivity is greater than 0.1°C. Weighing just 600g, this model also incorporates a 2.3 Megapixel visual camera. Up to 1,000 standard JPEG images can be stored on its micro SD card.
Other features include Picture-in-Picture, which enables the operator to see an infrared image superimposed on a visual image. It also includes a built-in laser pointer and LED illumination for inspection in low light areas, as well as a long-life battery providing for up to 5 hours of continuous operation.
In common with the entire range the i50 is IP54 rated making it suitable for use in harsh industrial environments. Suited to identifying system faults through thermal difference, the camera is ideal for predictive maintenance and planned inspection of electrical and mechanical systems to ensure they operate at maximum efficiency and safety with minimal energy consumption.
