Vision Components has added VC Z 0015 models featuring 2-megapixel CMOS sensors, expanding its portfolio of real-time capable ARM-based smart cameras running the VC Linux operating system. This new high-performance sensor captures up to 50 frames per second in full resolution (1,600 x 1,200 pixels) and supports exposure times of 15µs with a high-speed shutter as well as up to 1.28 s with a low-speed shutter.
The high processing speed of VC Z 0015 smart cameras is ensured by their dual-core Xilinx Zynq Arm processor with two Cortex-A9 cores clocked at 866MHz. Cameras can be supplied in a miniature housing measuring 80 x 45 x 20mm or in an IP67-rated protective housing, which is almost as compact at just 88mm in length and comes with an optional integrated autofocus lens and LED illumination. Board cameras are also available as a solution for machine or robot integration. These can be fitted with an on-board sensor, a single remote head or two remote sensors, e.g. to enable stereovision applications.
Included with every VC smart camera, the VC Lib software library offers more than 300 functions for easy programming of image processing routines such as barcode recognition, shape and position recognition, or the verification of printed products.
