The technology company VRmagic has bundled its business activities in the area of camera systems for industrial image processing in a separate company since October 2016. The portfolio of the newly established VRmagic Imaging GmbH ranges from individually configurable and programmable camera components through to ready-to-use and industry-compatible products for 3D imaging and spectroscopy. The Managing Directors are Norbert Hinckers and Dr. Markus Schill. This restructuring measure provides the Mannheim-based company with a platform for new investments and strategic partnerships
Founded in 2001 as a spin-off from the University of Mannheim, VRmagic GmbH develops and markets virtual reality simulators for medical training. Today, VRmagic is the world leader with its Eyesi® training systems for ophthalmologists, counting over 300 installations worldwide. Since 2003, cameras for image processing in industry and science have been a second business division for the company. All 19 employees who have been involved in the operations of this division will be transferred to the newly founded VRmagic Imaging GmbH. VRmagic Holding AG will be responsible for the general administrative functions of both companies. The stock corporation was already founded in 2008 to create the structures for further growth. Leonardo Venture GmbH & Co KGaA holds a share of twenty-five percent in the corporation. The other shares are held by the company founders. The company currently has 70 employees at its headquarters in Mannheim.
